Main cost variables
Number of stops, travel height, rated load, speed, MR/MRL architecture, drive/controller, automatic doors, cabin finish and power requirements all affect price.
Installation scope matters
Civil readiness, shaft tolerances, pit/headroom, electrical supply, scaffolding/access, testing and commissioning can change the final project cost.
Lifecycle cost
AMC, parts availability, response time and modernization support matter after handover; compare those alongside the purchase price.
What a serious buyer should verify
Maintenance and lifecycle questions
Before purchase, ask who stocks fast-moving parts, how emergency callbacks are handled, what preventive maintenance includes and whether proprietary tools or software are required for diagnostics. The cheapest installation can become expensive if parts or technical support are difficult to obtain.
At handover, keep approved drawings, controller documentation, warranty records and a maintenance schedule. These documents become important when the building changes service contractor or modernizes the lift later.
Building information needed before lift selection
Provide architectural shaft dimensions, pit depth, headroom, number of floors, travel height, expected traffic, power availability and the intended use of the lift. For hospital or cargo applications, door width and cabin dimensions can be as important as rated kilograms.
If the building uses a standby generator, define which lifts operate during a power failure, whether an automatic rescue device is included, and how lift starting is sequenced with pumps, HVAC and other emergency loads.
Research methodology and freshness
PS Engineering research separates company claims, public third-party data and general engineering guidance. Dataset-specific figures are labelled with their scope; competitor names are used for buyer comparison without implying affiliation; and technical values are treated as references until verified against the final project and manufacturer documentation. Last reviewed 21 September 2026.
What should be checked at handover
Handover should verify leveling accuracy, door operation, emergency functions, interlocks, overload behavior, alarm/communication, power-failure response and the agreed maintenance documentation. For projects connected to standby generation, the lift operating sequence should also be coordinated with the building’s emergency-power design.
Brands and companies buyers research
Bangladesh buyers may encounter international lift brands such as OTIS, Mitsubishi, KONE, Hyundai, Sigma, Schindler, TK Elevator, FUJI, Xizi, Xinda. They may also compare local engineering and installation companies. A brand name does not replace shaft verification, approved drawings, installation quality, safety testing and maintenance capability.
Lift specification that should be fixed before quotation
| Item | Buyer decision |
|---|---|
| Use | Passenger, bed/hospital, cargo, home/villa, service or escalator application. |
| Capacity | Rated kg and intended passenger/load pattern. |
| Stops and travel | Number of landings, travel height, pit and headroom. |
| Speed | Selected from building height, traffic and comfort target. |
| Doors | Opening width, automatic/manual arrangement and fire/lobby requirements. |
| Drive/configuration | MRL or machine room, traction/hydraulic where applicable. |
| Backup operation | ARD/UPS/generator interface and emergency landing behavior. |
| Maintenance | Parts availability, preventive service and emergency call-out plan. |
